Thanks Tazz for putting this song in my head today. Made the day much more bearable.

It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood

Absolutely beautiful. You really can’t ask for better weather. It’s sunny, nice breeze blowing, not too much humidity. Everything just seems quite friendly.

I was just sitting on the front porch, after a nice walk drinking one of these

and smoking one of these

and was thinking about a few mindless things.

1. I’m really happy Vincent’s didn’t close as it was supposed to this past week. I love that fucking place. I’m not really much into going to bars at all. But, this one I like. For the conversation, on tap Guinness, excellent music and awesome people. When or if the doors do shut it will suck. For now and next week, it’s all good.

2. A Thai restaurant is opening about a block away from me. I’m a whore for Thai food. It’s been awhile since I’ve had the orgasmic cuisine, I’m way stoked it’s opening date is approaching. The menu looks balls out good too.

3. I found this awesome website It’s a website about West Chester run by “West Chester Jim”. Definitely going in the “shit I check weekly” folder.

4. Company coming tomorrow. Aunt Barb and Uncle Geez. I’m looking forward to seeing them. However, I get all “gotta clean the house” spaz.

So, I’ll go back out on the porch. Smoke a ciggy (yeah I know it’s bad. Fuck off!) and think about the cleaning I should be doing which won’t get done.

Almost “hump” day.

Do shaving razors look so much like race cars?

Jerry Garcia 8/1/1942-8/9/1995

I always take some time on this day to reflect on Jerry’s death. I was living in Middletown, Connecticut at the time. I was on my way to work at Cafe Angelique. While driving to Cromwell I hear the announcement on the radio, “Garcia was 53.” I pulled to the side of the road, and sat there for about 10 minutes. Then, continued on to work. After work my housemates and myself sat up for a bit chatting about The Dead and being happy and sad. I couldn’t quite figure out why I was sad. I never met Jerry Garcia, he had no idea who the hell I was. But, 13 years later I still get bummed out when today’s date rolls around.

I think it’s because the music that came from him I accepted as part of myself. The “scene” that was created because of him and his bandmates I was part of. It was a family to me. I felt most comfortable in a field, light breeze, and the sun going down. The Grateful Dead were the start of that for me. Blankets, wine, laughter, music, dancing and vibration are still a part of my life. Just different faces, different music and different songs. To me though, it’s the great mother ship The Grateful Dead that spawned and continues to create. Just in a much more powerful way than they even knew could happen. Thank you Bob, Phil, Mickey, Bill, Keith, Pigpen, Tom, Brent, Vince, Donna. And a huge thank you to you Jerry.
