House passes resolution to honor actor Paul Newman

I love Paul Newman. His humanitarian efforts, his movies, his out of this world pasta sauces, salad dressings, popcorn  etc…The man was incredible for his consistent devotion to humanity.  My question. With the current situation of the United States of America is this something the House of Representatives should even be fucking discussing?

WASHINGTON – Paul Newman, the late actor and 10-time Academy Award nominee, has been honored by lawmakers as a screen legend and humanitarian.

Newman died Sept. 26, 2008, at age 83 after a long battle with cancer. The House on Tuesday night approved a resolution recognizing Newman’s achievements on and off screen.

The resolution said Newman’s “humanitarian works and incomparable talents have made him an American icon who will never be forgotten.”

The Hollywood star won one Oscar and took home two honorary ones, and had major roles in more than 50 motion pictures, including “Cool Hand Luke,” “Exodus,” “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” “The Verdict,” “The Sting” and “Absence of Malice.”

Newman and his popular food company, Newman’s Own, have given more than $250 million to charity over the years. He also helped to start “Hole in the Wall” camps across the world for children with life-threatening illnesses.

The resolution is H.R.18.

“Sing the melody line you hear in your own head, remember, you don’t owe anybody any explanations, you don’t owe your parents any explanations, you don’t owe your professors any explanations. You know I used to think the future was solid or fixed, something you inherited like an old building that you move into when the previous generation moves out or gets chased out. But it’s not. The future is not fixed, it’s fluid. You can build your own building, or hut or condo, whatever.”

“Wading in the Velvet Sea.”

I took a moment from my day
Wrapped it up in things you say
Mailed it off to your address
You’ll get it pretty soon unless.

The packaging begins to break
And all the points I tried to make
Are tossed with thoughts into a bin
Time leaks out my life leaks in.

You won’t find moments in a box
And someone else will set your clocks
I took a moment from my day
Wrapped it up in things you say
And mailed it off to you.

It’s all damp out.

It’s almost Thursday and so far what a week. I’m beat and ready for bed at 11:20 on a Wednesday. I’m tired of East Coast weather. I forgot how much I dislike how winter continues to drag on.

November came around and I was wanting snow. Big time f’n snow. It came, not “big time,” but was enough and I loved it. Christmas time rolls around, “let’s have more snow. Ya gotta have snow at Christmas right?” No snow.

Mid February I’m over it. Enough cold, wet, nasty snow-sleet-rain crap.

Come August I’ll be bitching about how it’s too hot and looking forward to the first big snow fall hopefully over Christmas 2009.

I guess that’s just how it works.

Sunday Evenings

Posted in Stuff on February 15, 2009 by Frizz

I love Sundays. Even with the knowing that I have to get up and go to work tomorrow. Sunday’s still rock. Just got back from Fennario’s after enjoying two cups of Green Tea and catching up on some reading.

I haven’t listened to this cd for quite a while and decided to put it on tonight. Absolutely amazing music.

Time to continue the chill process. Light some Nag Champa, dim the lamp, glass of honey wine and drift away.

Sleep well everyone.
